Update! Part 2: Life
Okay okay so I did a little update on teaching so now let me share with you some things that have happened outside of work.
First of all.
First of all.
BOOM! Balayage highlights. |
A "before" picture for comparison |
- I've never done something so drastic to my hair before and I absolutely love it!
- Sorry for the excessive hair pictures! But moving on...I bought the best socks in my entire life. Look at them! Peter Pan!
- Sad, sad news... I broke my computer screen last week by tripping while walking up the stairs at work. Sigh.
- I've had oodles of fun with new friends lately! And what goes well with new friends? Delicious food of course!
- And as I say hello to new friends, I part ways with others. Today was Sister Naatjes' last day :(. She served in the ward for almost the whole time I've been here. It was fun to meet her parents and sister today who came to pick her up.
- This weekend I went Cafe Lemontable with my wonderful friend, Songyi. It was my first time at this European-style restaurant and it was so yummy! It has been ages since I had such delicious pasta.
- Aaand lastly, today I went for a little stroll after church because the weather was gorgeous! I can feel the days growing longer and it makes me so very happy. It wasn't sunny when I was out but the temperature was just right! I can't wait for Spring! I am so excited to see the cherry blossom trees bloom.

Update! Part 1: Teaching
Well, well, well. I have once again been slacking a little with blog updates. I know I need to post more about Thailand but I have so many other things to talk about too! So here are some various updates on teaching in Korea!
- In Korea, Valentine's day is when girls give boys chocolates and such. Then on March 14th, boys return the favor. But last month for Valentine's day, my lovely mother sent conversation hearts for me to give my students. Since I left for Thailand the day after I handed them out, I didn't get around to posting the pictures on my blog. My students had no idea what these candies were but they really like them!

- Speaking of belated holiday pictures...I came across some pictures from the Kindergarten Halloween party. I was supposed to be a pumpkin hahah
Mystery box game |
Feeling for spaghetti brains |
- Aaaand speaking of Kindergarten, the week after I got back from Thailand, we had our Kindergarten festival! My students did so well! I took several videos of their adorableness but this is the only one I can get to work now.
- Kindy class pictures arrived! We look like a little family haha
- Those pictures turned out nicely but, the picture for my school's advertisement is another story...I had no warning that my picture would be taken :(.
But hey, what can you do. At least I'm wearing my dinosaur shirt.

Thailand! Part 1
A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to travel to the warm, beautiful country of Thailand! I bought my airplane tickets back in December, even though I didn't know if I would have a travel buddy. I know there are many women who travel around the world by themselves and I even read a number of empowering blog posts by such women to comfort me as I prepared for a solo trip to Thailand. However. I was never truly comforted. Travelling alone in Korea is no issue anymore. But being a tourist in such an unfamiliar country as Thailand sounds intimidating. And something I've discovered about myself lately is that I really like sharing experiences--to the point where I don't feel like something is worth doing unless I can share it with someone. Going to Thailand alone as a young, single, female, travel-noob, wasn't only scary. It seemed pointless! Regardless, that's exactly what I was planning on doing.
But then, about a week and a half before my vacation, a great and wonderful miracle happened: I found a travel buddy. And that travel buddy was my dad!
I can't even fully express how much of a blessing it was to spend a week exploring Thailand with my dad. Although my family and I Skype plenty, I hadn't seen my dad since I moved to Korea last June. I missed going on adventures with my dad. My Thailand trip would have been extremely different without my dad. I am forever grateful for our adventure.
I'll do a blog post for each day's adventure. Let's start off with our Bangkok arrival!
My flight arrived in Bangkok a few hours before dad's flight but I didn't mind waiting. It was very, very late by the time he arrived. Of course the first thing we did when we saw each other was hug and cry!

This is the view from our hotel in Bangkok. Pretty wild!
Our first morning in Thailand and of course dad already has his GPS out!
Ready for our first day of adventure!
I really should post more right now, but I will save it for the next post. Hopefully this little bit I have written will appease my mom who I know I anxious to see some blog posts about the trip! Sorry it's taken so long. The sad part about going on a vacation is coming straight home to work and getting caught up in life again so quickly!
